Retiree Resource Spotlight: RGEA (Retired Government Employees Association)
The Retired Government Employees Association (RGEA) is a trusted resource dedicated to supporting North Carolina’s retired state and local government employees. Since its founding in 1971, RGEA has worked to protect and enhance the benefits, rights, and overall well-being of retirees—ensuring that the people who have served their communities continue to be supported in retirement.
With a membership of over 60,000, RGEA is one of the largest retiree advocacy organizations in the nation. The association actively represents retiree interests at the state level while also providing access to valuable programs, resources, and guidance tailored specifically for life after public service.
What RGEA Offers:
Advocacy & Representation: Ongoing efforts to protect retirement benefits and promote retiree interests across North Carolina
Insurance Options: Access to supplemental coverage, including dental, vision, and life insurance plans that help fill gaps not covered by Medicare or state benefits
Resources & Support: Tools and information designed to help retirees navigate financial, health, and lifestyle decisions
Community & Engagement: Opportunities to stay connected, involved, and active during retirement
Retirement marks the beginning of a new chapter, and RGEA encourages members to make the most of it—whether that means pursuing new interests, volunteering, or simply enjoying a well-earned change of pace.
For those looking to stay informed, protected, and connected, RGEA offers a strong network of support for the years ahead.
