Serving the Raleigh Fire Family
August is here, and there is plenty happening across the Raleigh Fire Department! In this edition, we introduce our newest Hearts on Duty honoree and share upcoming events, activities, and opportunities to connect with coworkers, families, and the community. Take a look, mark your calendar, and help us celebrate the people and moments that make RFD more than just a department.

Building Support Beyond the Firehouse.
The Raleigh Fire Foundation
Behind many of the events, programs and opportunities that bring Raleigh Fire members together is a need for organized financial and community support. That need has led to the development of the Raleigh Fire Foundation, a separate nonprofit organization being created to support the Raleigh Fire Department, its members, families and department-related initiatives.
The Foundation’s goal is to help provide funding and resources for member morale events, sports teams, training opportunities, community outreach, family support and other needs that may fall outside the City’s traditional budget.
The Raleigh Fire Foundation is being developed by a seven-member founding board: Keri Warner, Becky Davis, Nick Lane, James Jones, Brittany Rountree, Monica Boyd and Andre Somme. Together, the board is working to establish the Foundation’s structure, complete the nonprofit process and build a sustainable organization that can support Raleigh Fire for years to come.
While the Foundation will work closely with the Raleigh Fire Department, it will operate as an independent nonprofit organization rather than as a City department or government fundraising account.
There is still plenty of work ahead, but the mission is simple: bring people and resources together to support those who serve Raleigh.
More information about the Foundation, future events and ways to get involved will be shared as plans continue to develop.
Raleigh Fire Department Honor Guard
The Raleigh Fire Department Honor Guard
is looking for dedicated members who are willing to serve our department in one of its most respected traditions.
Whether standing watch at a funeral, welcoming our newest recruits, or representing the department at ceremonial events, the Honor Guard serves as a visible symbol of our professionalism, pride, and respect for those who have served before us and those who continue to serve today.

Charity Hockey Game!
Raleigh Fire takes on the Port City!
The RFD Hockey Team is hitting the ice for a great cause!
Join them on Saturday, August 22 at 5:30 p.m. as they take on Port City Fire at the Polar Ice House in Wilmington.
Admission is $10, with children ages 5 and under free.
Proceeds will benefit The Reason Outdoors, so come cheer on the team, enjoy some hockey, and help support a worthy mission.
Coming Up: Battle of the Badges BJJ Returns!
Forget saving kittens from trees, or writing tickets for going 5 mph over, or calling for a lift assist. It’s time to settle the real debate: Who really runs the city? 🥋💥 EMS or FIRE or POLICE?
